Mission
Explore. Ignite. Create.
AR Creation Studios (ACS) fosters creativity, collaboration, and experiential learning through exploration and play using a variety of equipment and tools to create both academic and personal projects. AR Creation Studios spaces have been designed with the intention of serving creators of all skill levels. No prior knowledge or specific background is required to use our spaces, just a sense of curiosity and a desire to learn and create!
For hands-on learning educational experiences, patrons will need to come in and use the resources to create their projects themselves. For patrons who may not know how to do something, ACS staff are happy to show them how or learn alongside them to help projects become reality! ACS staff will not make things for patrons.
The concept of “failure” does not exist in AR Creation Studios. “Mistakes” or “failures” during creation are simply part of the experimentation process and they are celebrated as learning opportunities which improve both the creator and project.
AR Creation Studios (ACS) is comprised of the:
- Makerspace
- Digital Media and Music Lab
- Podcast Studios
- Video Recording Studio
- Audio Recording Studio
- Wood Kaufman Augmented & Virtual Reality Studios
- Visualization Lab
Policies for each space are linked below.
Access
Current University of Arkansas-Fayetteville students, faculty, and staff are welcome to use ACS during hours of operation.
Reservations are required except in cases of general use of the Makerspace and Digital Media and Music Lab.
Both the Audio Recording Studio and Video Recording Studio spaces require all patrons to complete a one-hour in-person orientation session to become an authorized user before reservations are allowed.
Due to its specialized nature, the Visualization Lab requires the submission of a reservation request form and a consultation meeting with ACS staff to reserve the space.
The Makerspace requires all patrons to complete the AR Creation Studios User Agreement and a general safety orientation before general use of the space, its services, materials, and equipment is allowed. Some Makerspace equipment requires additional training as well as reservations for use.
Location and Hours of Operation
AR Creation Studios (ACS) spaces are located within the ARK on Level 2 of Mullins Library except for the Digital Media and Music Lab. The Digital Media and Music Lab is located along the west side of Mullins Library on Level 2
ACS hours of operation are posted on the Library Hours webpage.
No after-hours use or access of ACS spaces within the ARK is permitted.
Conduct and General Use Guidelines
To assure an environment rooted in a culture of belonging and respect, all AR Creation Studios patrons are asked to adhere to all University Libraries and University of Arkansas policies, including the Code of Computing Practices and Student Handbook.
