What is MFA?

All students, faculty, and staff are now required to use MFA (Multifactor authentication) when accessing many campus resources.

Multi-factor authentication provides an additional layer of security for university accounts that makes it difficult for bad actors to access services, applications, and data.

Multi-factor combines something you know (UARK email and password) with something you have (a trusted device, like a phone).

You may see an MFA challenge when connecting to our library resources.

MFA request for more information

You can respond to an MFA request on your phone by responding to a text message, phone call, or through the Microsoft Authenticator App. The Authenticator App is the most secure method.

How to set up MFA on Your Smart Device

Visit the ITS MFA page for instructions for first-time users (see link below).

Don't Have a Smart Phone? Purchase a Hard Token

The hard token is an alternative method for those who are unable to use the Authenticator app or other phone options for multi-factor authentication. To get started, purchase a YubiKey hard token device from the Tech Store (sse link below).

To Change Authentication Methods

Visit the ITS MFA page for instructions on changing verification methods (see link below).

Two-Digit Number Required

The Microsoft Authenticator App requires entry of a 2-digit verification code.
