University Libraries cannot appraise objects, nor can we recommend a particular appraiser. Appraisal is invariably a professional service—for a fee. The Appraisers Association of America offers a database of appraisers, which can be searched by specialty and location. The Smithsonian American Art Museum points to multiple resources for appraisal on a site "How Much Is Your Object Worth?" The database askART provides examples of sales prices of works by artists. Although University Libraries has no subscription to askART, individuals may buy a one-day pass for a nominal fee. Artsy is another resource, which offers a free database of prices; however, the user must create an account with Artsy to see records.
